Seeking a Talented Musical Director for a Unique Panto Experience

Are you a recently graduated music student or a retired Music Director looking for a delightful, low-pressure gig? Here’s an exciting opportunity just for you.

We are The South Simcoe Theatre in Cookstown, Ontario, proudly presenting our 11th annual Panto, "What the Dickens! A Christmas Carol." This year, we're seeking a passionate Musical Director to bring the magic of music to our beloved production.

What's Unique About This Role?

• Minimal Commitment: The heavy lifting is done. Auditions are completed, vocal ranges noted, and our past MD has graciously offered to prepare musical arrangements for us. You won't be required to attend all rehearsals—just our Sunday sessions from 1:30 to 5 pm (times negotiable). As we get closer to opening, we will need you there more frequently (negotiable).
• Comedic Play with Music: Our show isn’t a full-scale musical but a comedic play featuring well-loved tunes such as "Carol of the Bells," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," and "Put A Little Love in Your Heart." You’ll have the opportunity to guide a talented cast and work with a pit band of bass, guitar, and percussion.
• Flexible and Fun: This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a flexible, enjoyable role. Whether you're starting your career or looking to keep your passion alive in retirement, this position offers the perfect balance.

Rehearsals:

• Sundays from 1:30 to 5 pm (negotiable)
• Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 10 pm (closer to opening – negotiable)

Performance Dates:

• December 6, 7, 13 & 14 (matinee and evening)
• December 8 & 15 (evening)
