Joe Todd (male) - 30ish, a lonely drycleaner

Renée Duchene (female) - 30ish, a wannabe hairstylist and amateur escort

Carrie O'Neill (female) - 30ish, Joe's sister, newscaster

Ivan Todd (male) - 60ish, Joe and Carrie's estranged father

Phyllis Todd (female) - 60ish, Ivan's wife

Auditions will consist of "cold reads" with other actors using the script (to be provided at the audition).

All are welcome!  No experience required.

Callbacks as needed.

All auditions and rehearsals will take place at our Backstage Theatre, on the grounds of the Markham Museum.

Turn into the museum grounds at the first light north of 16th Ave and Main Street Markham / Hwy 48.  Keeping the museum to your left, park in the small parking lot by the large sliding gate.  Enter the grounds by the pedestrian gate to the left of the large auto gate, and we are the first building on your right.

Rehearsals will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons throughout the summer.  Some flexibility re: vacations, but you will be asked to advise us of potential absences ahead of time.

Markham Little Theatre is a non-profit community theatre group.  We are staffed entirely by volunteers, and do not pay our cast or crew.

When his father, Ivan, visits, after a fifteen year estrangement, Joe Todd hires a paid escort to pose as his fiancée so that he won’t appear to be a total social failure. Renee, the escort is a needy single mother with lots of imagination. Joe’s supposedly successful television newsreader sister, Carrie, is facing a growing alcohol problem. And Ivan and his wife have an ulterior motive for arranging the sudden family reunion. The dysfunctional relationships of the family provide hilarious comedy as resentments harboured for years are finally brought to the surface with surprising results.
