The Melville Boys is a Canadian classic that has long been a favorite across the country. When brothers Lee and Owen Melville decide to spend a quiet weekend away at their family cabin on the lake, they meet local sisters Loretta and Mary, whose arrival shifts the course of the entire trip. Over the following 48 hours, the four get to know each other and challenge each other, as they question the choices they’ve made during this transitional time of their lives.
Lee Melville: Mid-thirties, working-class.
Owen Melville: Late twenties, working-class, almost childlike in
his outlook.
Mary: Early thirties, a smart woman but not completely sure of
herself.
Loretta: Mid-twenties, blond, equally as smart as her sister but she
chooses to throw herself into life more.

Owen and Lee Melville arrive at their lakeside cabin, toting beer and bonhomie and anticipating nothing more than a weekend of fishing. However, their well-laid plans are thrown out of whack by the arrival of two sisters, Loretta and Mary. The women stay the night and are the catalysts for a very funny, tender and unsentimental look at what happens when four lives in transition touch common ground.
