Lead Roles
Blanche DuBois- 30+ years old, female identifying, any ethnicity Afading southern beauty from a wealthy family who lost everything. A widow, and former school teacher.
Stanley Kowalski- 28+ male identifying, any ethnicity Stella’s working-class husband, who uses his physical strength and brutish behaviour to preserve his family's power structure
Stella Kowalski- 25+, female identifying, any ethnicity Blanche's younger sister, and Stanley's pregnant wife, who tries to act as a mediator between them.
Harold “Mitch” Mitchell- 30+, male identifying, any ethnicity Stanley’s coworker and friend. He is a sensitive, respectful gentleman who cares for his ill mother and falls in love with Blanche.
Featured Roles
Eunice Hubbell- 40+ Female Identifying, any ethnicity Eunice is the wife of Steve, owner of the apartment building and friend to Stella. A bit crass and rough around the edges.
Steve Hubbell- 40+ Male Identifying, any ethnicity Eunice’s husband, owner of the apartment building and one of Stanley's regular poker buddies. Same demeanour as his wife– on the crass side and rough around the edges.

Pablo Gonzalez- 18+, Male Identifying, Latinx, Spanish language skills are an asset One of Stanley’s regular poker buddies.
Neighbour / Ensemble- 18+, Female Identifying or Non-Binary, Black Aneighbour of the Kowalskis. Has a “seen it all” air and look about her.
A Young Collector / Ensemble- 18- 22, Male Identifying, any ethnicity A young newspaper carrier who attracts Blanche.
A Strange Man (Doctor) / Ensemble- 30+, Male Identifying or Non-Binary, any ethnicity Psychiatric Doctor, possesses a calming demeanour.
A Strange Woman (Nurse) / Ensemble- 40+ (Flexible), Female Identifying or Non-Binary, any ethnicity Psychiatric Nurse, cold and severe.
Flower Merchant / Ensemble- 18+, Female Identifying or Non-Binary, Latinx, Spanish language skills are an asset A Spanish speaking merchant who sells tin flowers to honour the dead.
Upon arrival, you will be asked to fill out a short form with your personal information, desired role(s), scheduling availability, and relative experience. Rehearsals for the show will begin in January 2025, and will be 2- 3 times a week. Dates will be scheduled to accommodate the majority of availability.
Performances will take place April 3- 13 2025 (tentative) at the Orillia Opera House.
Audition Requirements
PLEASE PREPARE a short monologue under three minutes in length. You may be asked to read from the script as well. NOTE: The Director welcomes monologues from unique sources, ie: from characters that may not match the actor’s gender or age or from roles the actor may not be traditionally cast in.
