Scarborough Theatre Guild is pleased to announce its 2025-26 season.
The Full Monty, a play by Simon Beaufoy October 2025
Based on the popular 1997 film, this comedy follows the efforts of 6 unemployed Yorkshire men who hit on the idea of a strip show revue in order to make a few quid. Several complications arise, of course, including keeping the whole thing secret from their wives, and staying one step ahead of the police, On top of that, they must sell tickets to this event, so they have to hint that their strip show will show “the full monty”
Witness for the Prosecution, by Agatha Christie January 2026
Leonard Vole is accused of murdering a rich, elderly woman who had befriended him, and made him her sole beneficiary in her will. While he claims he had no knowledge of her will, some facts point toward his guilt while other testimony seems to clear hm. This is a taut courtroom drama with emotional outbursts and an ending that many will not see coming. Adapted from Christie’s short story “Traitor’s Hands”
Emma, by Michael Bloom April 2026
Pledging never to marry, the mischievous Emma Woodhouse is nevertheless the "matchmaker of Highbury." Her plans go awry when the couple she tries to unite both seem to have interest elsewhere: the lady wants the same man that Emma is sweet on, and the gentleman wants Emma! Add to this another pair of visitors to Highbury whom Emma feels she must make matches for, and much scheming is required to set things straight.
A highly theatrical adaptation of one of Jane Austen's greatest novels.
A Streetcar Named Desire, by Tennessee Williams July 2026
Society belle Blanche DuBois comes to New Orleans to stay with her sister Stella, and her husband Stanley Kowalski. Blanche’s criticism of Shanley, and indeed the whole diverse, working-class neighborhood causes friction between her and almost everyone. Stanley makes some inquiries about Blanche’s past and discovers that she is not the upstanding society woman she claims to be. One of Williams’ most famous plays.
