The Story

It’s been a rough road for Margie, a single mother living in South Boston. Having just been fired from her job at The Dollar Store, Margie scrambles to find a way for her and her daughter to survive. She decides to contact Mike, an old fling from her high school days, who has become a successful doctor, in the hopes that he (or someone he knows) might have a job for her. As they reconnect, secrets and sacrifices are revealed.

Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, David Lindsay-Abaire, has created a “masterpiece of contemporary theatre” that explores the themes of class, morality and resilience. In our world, where the rift between the haves and have-nots grows ever wider, Good People is bound to resonate with today’s audiences.

Recommended for age 14 and up. Some mature language and themes.

SYNOPSIS

In South Boston, where money is tight and entertainment means a few games of bingo, Margie Walsh has lost her job. Scrambling for a break, Margie thinks an old fling who's made it out of Southie as a doctor might be her ticket to a fresh start. But is success climbing over the class divide, or making the rent from the card you’ve been given? Margie is about to find out whether strength of character or a lucky break makes good people.
